WELCOME ABOARD

HMS Sailslash
HERE YOU WILL FIND QUALITY YARNS
&
ADVENTURES
CONCERNING THE MEN AND SHIPS OF THE WOODEN WORLD
OF NELSON'S NAVY

This is the home site of the Sailslash writers group,
founded for the discussion and publication of
"Age of Sail" (circa 1750-1850) fiction
- original work, fan fiction and parodies.

All the fiction contained within is the work of the group, which exists to allow writers, readers and fans to meet on-line for friendly networking, and to discuss maritime fiction and films, history and writing.

You will find stories inspired, directly and indirectly, by the Hornblower series, Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, Dudley Pope, Alexander Kent, Jane Austen, Melville, Marryat and many other authors and real-life heroes of the great age of fighting sail.

WARNING:
These various memoirs are "slash" - they depict an era
when Naval life could be summed up as consisting of
"Rum, Sodomy and the Lash" in equal measure.

They should be considered adult reading matter:
reflecting the different mores of the 18th Century
as regards war, alcohol, human rights, and hygiene,
& which may be alien or offensive to some readers.

Stories may also contain descriptions of, or references to,
sexual relationships between men.

If you feel uncomfortable reading further...
Then leave and go here instead!

If, on the other hand, this sounds like just your cup of grog -

Then enter here, and welcome aboard!
